News & Announcements

Huron School of Nursing Offers Fast Track LPN-RN Sequence

Huron School of Nursing, as of August 2007, is offering a fast track option for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to earn a diploma in nursing and become Registered Nurses. Funded in part through a Nursing Education Grant Program (NEGP) grant from the Ohio Board of Nursing, the program is offered by Huron School of Nursing in collaboration with Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC). New students will be accepted in January and August during the two-year grant period for nursing courses to be offered on the campus of CVCC. Clinical experiences are offered at Cleveland Clinic hospitals and area facilities. The LPN to RN sequence consists of the transition semester, which validates the student’s prior learning and prepares him/her for advanced placement in the nursing curriculum, and the final two semesters of the program. Graduates earn a Diploma in Nursing from Huron School of Nursing and an Associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College or Notre Dame College. The program provides an excellent foundation for future completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at area colleges and universities.

“We are so pleased to be able to expand our enrollment and provide an expedited route to the RN credential for a significant number of LPNs,” noted Penni-Lynn Rolen, Director of Huron School of Nursing. Founded in 1884 as the Cleveland Training School for Nurses, the school has been educating individuals to become competent, caring nurses for the past 124 years. In August 2007, the school opened a branch campus at South Pointe Hospital.
