LPN-RN Sequence
Advanced placement for LPN applicants into the RN program
through the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model (ONAM)
Licensed Practical Nurses
a. LPNs may seek advanced placement through the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model (ONAM)
b. Requirements for participation
1) Submit an application for admission to Huron School of Nursing.
2) Be a graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program.
3) Be licensed by the State of Ohio to practice as an LPN.
4) Must have completed each practical nursing course with a "C" or better.
5) Must hold appropriate credentials to administer medications in the state of Ohio.
6) Must complete the following prerequisite courses at CuyahogaCommunity College (or their equivalents at other colleges):
Biology 1100 - Introduction to Biological Chemistry OR Chemistry 1010 - Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry (take one only)
Biology 2330 - Anatomy & Physiology I
Biology 2340- Anatomy & Physiology II
English 1010 - College Composition I
Math 1000 level or higher
Psychology 1010 - General Psychology
c. Procedure for Admission under ONAM option:
1) Submit application and letter of intent for advanced placement via ONAM to Coordinator of Student Services.
2) Submit official transcripts from high school, all post-secondary schools attended and Practical Nursing program to Office of Admissions – Huron School of Nursing.
d. Once all areas in section b and c are completed the admission committee will act on the application. A cumulative quality point average (CQPA) of 2.5 is required in all college course work. Those applicants who have achieved a cqpa of 3.0 or higher will be given priority consideration.
Once the applicant is accepted into Huron School of Nursing, he/she may register for the transition course sequence, ONAM LPN-RN course and Nursing 2015-Medical Surgical Nursing for LPNs at the school. The transition courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters. Students successfully completing the ONAM LPN-RN course and N2015 will receive credit for Nursing 1000, Nursing 1010, Nursing 1020, Nursing 2010 and Nursing 3010 at Huron School of Nursing. There will be a one time $90 bypass credit charge. Students who have been granted advanced placement will be enrolled on a space available basis.
e. All applicants must have completed the following courses (prior to enrollment in the nursing sequence) with a grade of "C" or better:
Chemistry 1010 Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry or
Biology 1100 Introduction to biological Chemistry
Biology 2330 Anatomy and Physiology I
Biology 2340 Anatomy and Physiology II
Biology 2500 Microbiology
English 1010 College Composition I
Math 1000 level or higher
Psychology 1010 General to Psychology
Psychology 2020 Life Span Development
