Educational Resources

Huron School of Nursing provides educational resources to assist the traditional and non-traditional student in successfully completing the nursing program. The program provides students with a emphasis on nursing knowledge and clinical practice and a strong liberal arts and science background. The program of study also provides an excellent foundation for future completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Faculty is an important resource in nursing education. The qualified faculty of Huron School of Nursing represent varied backgrounds in education and experience, thus ensuring a learning environment in which the current trends and practices of nursing and patient care are incorporated.

Huron School of Nursing offers the advantage of student experiences at Euclid, Hillcrest, Huron and South Pointe Hospitals, other Cleveland Clinic hospitals and family health centers and other respected Cleveland area health care institutions.

Huron School of Nursing offices and facilities are located in Huron Hospital. The hospital’s Professional Library offers a wide selection of periodicals and reference material, as well as up-to-date computer technology for the access of nursing and medical information.

A Learning Resource Center and Computer Lab also provide a variety of opportunities for learning via computer and other electronic media. Students have access to a Nursing Skills Lab at Huron Hospital for practice of nursing skills. Beginning Fall 2007, Huron School of Nursing will offer courses at a branch campus located at South Pointe Hospital.

Students who do not hold a prior degree earn an Associate of Arts or Science degree from Cuyahoga Community College (CCC) or an Associate of Science in Health Sciences from Notre Dame College (NDC). Degree seeking students must complete a semester hour residency requirement at either school. Students who hold a prior Associate, Baccalaureate or higher-level degree are not required to earn the Associate degree. These students may complete the required support courses at the college of their choice. NDC or CCC will evaluate all transfer credit from previous colleges.

Nursing courses are scheduled on a semester basis. Students enrolled in the Day program attend class and clinical experience primarily during the day. Some evening and weekend clinical experience may be required during the program. Evening/Weekend students attend class and clinical experience during the evening and/or weekends. Occasional daytime clinical experiences during the week may be required.
